What Is Nack Pain? During our lives, many of us will have neck pain, and most of us won't know exactly what caused it. In fact, neck pain can start from a whole range of causes. Maybe you slept funny and woke up with a crick that won't go away. You might've been rear-ended in your car and now you have whiplash. Perhaps you twisted it wrong one day in one of those high-intensity aerobic classes.
Even though most of us will experience neck pain, we won't all feel it in the same way. Sometimes, it's just on one side of your neck; sometimes, pain shoots down your arms. A problem in your neck may even cause terrible headaches or dizziness. Symptoms may be gone in a few days, or you may have long-term pain that limits what you can do every day.
No matter what's causing your neck pain, it hurts, and you're probably very eager to get rid of it. However, as you may guess since there are so many causes and symptoms of neck pain, there are many ways to treat it. You can use over-the-counter pain medication. Acupuncture is an option, as is massage. Most people with neck pain don't need surgery, but it may be best for you and your pain.
So as you can tell, neck pain isn't quite as simple as "just" a pain in the neck, but by learning more about it, you'll be better able to deal with it.

Neck pain affects approximately 80% of people at some point in their lifetime. It may result from sleeping the wrong way, poor body mechanics (such as poor posture, or holding the telephone between your shoulder and ear), or from an injury. Symptoms of cervical spine include:
You should consult your primary care physician for an evaluation if you have any of the following symptoms:
Neck pain with high fever, chills, and weight loss
Ongoing numbness, tingling, weakness in the arms or legs
Loss of bowel or bladder control
Loss of balance
Severe headaches
Dizziness
Neck pain that persists despite conservative treatment
No obvious cause for neck pain
Neck pain that is progressively getting worse, and worsens at nighttime
Neck pain that persists beyond three weeks
If you suffer from neck or arm pain, you may think you recognize a symptom or pattern of symptoms as you read about these diseases. If you do, see a doctor -- either your primary care physician or a spine specialist -- as soon as possible. However, do not panic, and do not jump to conclusions. Many people have neck pain for simple reasons that have nothing to do with a serious disease
Your doctor will ask questions about your symptoms of neck pain and do a physical examination that includes:
Testing the movement of the neck.
Testing for trapped nerves.
Examination of the muscles.
Examination of the movement of the joints of the spine, neck and hands.
If your pain started after an injury, or if it doesn't improve after a few weeks, your doctor may want to do more tests. Imaging tests such as an Spine X-ray, An MRI scan, or a CT scan can show the neck muscles and tissues. These tests may be done to check the neck bones, spinal discs, spinal nerve roots, and spinal cord

Surgical Treatments For Neck Pain
FORAMINOPLASTY SURGERY
When the part of the disc or a bone spur is pressing on a nerve as it leaves the vertebra (through an exit called the foramen), a foraminotomy may be done. A foraminotomy is making the opening of the foramen larger, so the nerve can exit without being compressed.
LAMINECTOMY SURGERY
We have a bony plate at the back of each vertebra that protects our spinal canal and spinal cord it is called as lamina. Surgeon removes all or a part of the lamina to make more room.
ANTERIOR CERVICAL DISCECTOMY SURGERY
When a person is having a bulging disc or a herniated disc, it may be pressing on his nerves. In a discectomy, the surgeon will remove all or part of the disc.
CORPECTOMY SURGERY "Corpus" means body and "ectomy" means remove. Another method for relieving pressure on the spinal cord that may be causing spinal stenosis or cervical myelopathy is to remove the front of the spinal canal. This procedure is called a corpectomy.
